The Tyler Family had recently moved into this house in Penn. The original kitchen had been designed by the same architect that designed and house and despite having a beautiful kitchen; it proved impractical for the Tyler family. They needed a spacious kitchen that could seat their large family. The Tyler’s also wanted to Ensure there was a lot of worktop for prepping and an integrate an office station. The main challenge was to create this kitchen in the existing floor space where the previous kitchen stood.
As the room was Open to a lot of light, we used this to our advantage in making the room feel very spacious. By using our off-white (Merino) doors in high gloss laminate, we are able to reflect the light all around the room. Our focus to was to ensure we could provide enough seating for the whole family, so an extra-long Island was created, with the ability to seat 5-7 people. Perfect for the whole family to sit around or for guests to socialise. By putting the Hob and Sink on the island as well, we are able to ensure that whoever is cooking or cleaning is able to stay part of the conversation. The Raised Breakfast bar helps create some shape and definition to the island as well as providing a small area of protection from anything spitting off the hob.
The Long extending worktop at the far end is complimented with an indulgent red backsplash, which helps brings some colour to the kitchen. At the end of the island, we have integrated a small office section that stays in keeping with the rest of the kitchen.
